Meike A7 Battery Grip
For those of us looking for extended battery life out of our A7 series cameras the vertical battery grip is the primary option (unless your shooting video and can wire up an external battery bank) But for the ones that require portability at the same time as functionality, the battery grip is the best option.
I've tested the Meike battery grip with 2x NP-FW50 (Non genuine versions) with surprisingly good results, although the constant draining of non genuine batteries will take its toll on performance in the long run. If you're worried about putting non genuine batteries into your $3000 AUD camera body, and maybe more comfortable sacrificing a $100 AUD grip instead.
The battery grip will effectively double the life of your shoot before replacing the batteries, your LCD screen will display 2 x Battery symbols in the top right corner, automatically switching to the second battery one the first is empty.
At around 1/3 the price of a genuine Sony battery grip that has the same functionality as it's original, the Meike grip is a nice option.
