Canon EF 85mm 1.8 USM - Review
Canon’s EF 85mm 1.8 USM is a mid-level portrait lens with exceptionally good results considering it’s small price tag. Coupled with the A7r, the use of contrast detection auto focus lacks the speeds necessary for fast paced situations, street photography with moving subjects could be quite difficult using AF. I used the Fotga EF-NEX AF adapter for my tests, with a Metabones update soon to follow. This lens is still a nice 85mm to have in the kit at a significantly lower cost then other AF 85mm’s. Coupled to another A7 series camera that utilises phase detect AF would make this lens that little bit better.
