SMC Pentax lenses were manufactured in Japan from the early 70's, The super multi-layer coating is applied to the surface of the lens to reduce the affects of flaring and also create high sharp high contrast images. SMC is also applied to the Asahi Super Takumar range of lenses from the same manufacturer (Asahi Optic Co, Japan).

The SMC 20mm is one of my favourite Architectural and Landscape lenses, it is extremely sharp with very little - no barrel distortion on most occasions. It's a well built solid little lens with a smooth free moving focusing ring, The perfect match for street art photography.
